BTMS TAG Center

Our TAG Center program provides a comprehensive full-day instructional program tailored to the advanced and specialized needs of highly able students. Our teachers undergo special selection and training to deliver instruction specifically designed for TAG students. Eligible students, according to PGCPS criteria for TAG identification, are enrolled via continuity, lottery, or neighborhood students.

At BTMS, our Mission and Vision are aligned with the needs of our gifted students. We believe in providing our TAG students with daily opportunities for authentic research, hands-on activities, and the application of their critical thinking skills. Our program offers an enriched and accelerated Language Arts curriculum, incorporating resources like The College of William and Mary Language Arts Curriculum for Highly-able learners and Junior Great Books Shared Inquiry. Additionally, all students are enrolled in a high school-level foreign language course.

Our website provides only a glimpse of what Benjamin Tasker Middle School has to offer. If you're interested in our BTMS TAG Program, please don't hesitate to reach out to the school's TAG coordinator. We eagerly await your contact!

Benjamin Tasker Middle School has been awarded the EGATE (Excellence in Gifted and Talented Education) TAG Center designation, a prestigious accolade from the state of Maryland honoring schools that excel in educating gifted students. Our 2018/2019 submission included a comprehensive portfolio showcasing evidence across 22 criteria that embody best practices in gifted education. As an EGATE school, we serve as a model for others aiming to achieve this recognition or enhance their TAG programs, focusing on four key components: Student Identification, Curriculum and Instruction, Qualified Teachers and Professional Development, and Program Management and Evaluation. We are pleased to announce that Benjamin Tasker Middle School's TAG Center Program not only meets but exceeds these standards, successfully fulfilling all 21 objectives.
