First and foremost, the Field Staff is a team, and must work together to achieve the level of professionalism that has become expected by our members. The only way for this to happen is from a combined effort from every Field Staff member. There is strength in numbers. We don’t always have to agree, but when a decision has been reached, everyone is expected to adhere to the outcome.
Always project a Professional Image! Issues are to be dealt with internally. Always project a professional image to our members and guests.
Why should I be Volunteer or Rule Official?
Rule Official
"Best job in retirement for a golf enthusiast. The players in the junior events are very interested in understanding the rules. It’s a lot of fun to teach them. All players are so grateful for the officiating support and go out of their way to say thanks. The section staff and officiating team are a great group to work with. I enjoy it tremendously."

"It's working with our Philly Section team, our Section Staff and Volunteers are the best! It's working with the Golf Shop Staff and Greens Staff at the courses we visit. It's working with the parents/relatives/friends who trust us to bring their Juniors to our events. And it's about helping run smooth tournaments for the amazing Juniors who come out and compete. I am so impressed with how they carry themselves, I have learned from them, hopefully they picked up a couple good things from me too!"

"The future of golf, golf courses, and the entire golf industry rests with junior golfers. To that end, I want to be a part of the legacy that creates an outlet for kids to pursue golf and help them carry on the grand traditions of the game."
"Whenever you engage in volunteer work, you find new people and create lasting relationships. PGA Philadelphia is no exception! I have made wonderful connections and will have these friendships for a long time."
-Dave Rugg
"The best part about volunteering is being a part of putting on a great event or tournament. I get to see the happy faces of all the children and experience their joy of being a part of the event."
