To the PGA National Club Championship Community,
The PGA National Club Championship is designed to bring together the top amateur club champions from across the country in a highly competitive, professionally supported championship environment.
Over the past few years, we have listened to feedback from players on what matters most when making the PGA National Club Championship an amazing experience. Much of that feedback has focused on providing a great competitive environment and hosting at high-end facilities. To that end, we are excited to share the following changes below to the championship.
In order to host the championship at the best facilities across the country, moving forward we will be hosting the men and women at the same time. Championship-caliber golf courses are increasingly selective about hosting multi-week events, and a streamlined approach enables us to partner with facilities that truly match the prestige of this competition—courses that challenge the best and provide an exceptional player experience. To make this a reality, the championship will be conducted with 234 players over one week, including both women and men over the same three courses.
With that in mind, we have been able to secure amazing championship host sites through 2029 by consolidating the championship activities over a single week. As we return back to Pinehurst in March, 2027, we are excited to re-introduce the initial concept of the PGA National Club Championship where the men and women played together over a single week. Each division will have 39 players (Men & Women competing in the Open, Senior (50+), and Legend (65+).
Given the interest and demand to participate in the championship and the fact that club championships take place throughout a calendar year, the championship field will be selected by an application based process. As players win their local club championships and are certified by their PGA Professional, they will have the chance to apply for entry into the field.
We are excited to return to the roots of the championship 6 years later and provide a wonderful experience and competition for club champions from across the country.
Thank you for your passion, your feedback, and your ongoing commitment to this Championship. We look forward to welcoming you to the next chapter of an event that continues to reflect the very best of our Association.
Sincerely,
