The novel coronavirus known as COVID-19 is a great concern for us all. In particular, the Center for Disease Control (CDC) states based on currently available information and clinical expertise, older adults and people of any age who have serious underlying medical conditions might be at higher risk for severe illness from COVID-19. More information about who may be at higher risk may be found at
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/need-extra-precautions/people-at-higher-risk.html.
If you have any questions about whether you should participate in the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, please contact your personal health care provider. More specific information on COVID-19 may be found on the CDC information hub: https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-nCoV/index.html.
The PGA of America has undertaken a number of measures to help mitigate the risk transmission of COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses. Despite these measures, complete elimination of risk exposure and infection to COVID-19 is not currently possible. It is critical anyone planning to participate in the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship follow the COVID-19-related protocols outlined below to reduce the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Prior to traveling, please read this Contestant Guide, read and sign the attached two documents: Specific Notice Regarding COVID-19 and COVID-19 Screening and Testing Acknowledgement and Agreement. Please return both signed documents no later than Tuesday, November 3, to sbowers@pgahq.com or fax 561.366.2905.
The success of the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship competition health and safety plan is contingent on every participant adhering to its policies. The foundation of the plan is SOCIAL DISTANCING, therefore, everyone is expected to maintain a proper physical distance from others (6 feet) at all times. Physical/Social distancing is the best defense against this disease, and it is imperative every individual on-site adheres to this practice at all times. We also ask you limit your exposure by maintaining the “safer at home” philosophy throughout the tournament week.
No spectators (including family members) are allowed on the courses or in player designated areas.
Should you choose to participate in the National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, you must follow all mitigation measures implemented by the PGA with respect to COVID-19. These requirements are a Condition of Competition and, therefore, any violation may result in disqualification.
We strongly suggest all players and alternates undergo COVID-19 testing prior to traveling to PGA Golf Club. Information concerning “Home Collection” options can be found in the “Product Attributes” column at the following website (any costs associated with pre-testing will be at the individual’s expense):
Please note a pre-test does not take the place of the required testing upon arrival at PGA Golf Club. All participants will be tested on-site. All costs associated with PGA required on-site testing will be covered by the PGA of America.
Prior to traveling, check with your local authorities on any travel restrictions/quarantine requirements upon returning from Florida.
To protect yourself and others during your trip, you should:
• Clean your hands often.
◦ Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you have been in a public place, or after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
◦ If soap and water are not readily available, use a hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. Cover all surfaces of your hands and rub your hands together until they feel dry.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Avoid close contact with others (Keep at least 6 feet of physical distance from others).
◦ Avoiding close contact is especially important if you are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.
• Wear a face covering in public, indoors and outdoors.
• Cover coughs and sneezes. Make sure to sneeze or cough into a tissue or inside of your elbow
• Pick up food at drive-thrus, curbside restaurant service or stores. In-dining at any bar or restaurant is strongly discouraged.
Consider traveling with a protective face covering, alcohol-based sanitizer, disinfectant wipes, tissues and a personal thermometer.
After careful consideration, it has been determined all players and alternates must undergo COVID-19 testing and receive a negative result on-site, prior to playing any practice rounds or accessing practice facilities on or after Monday, October 12, 2020.
Starting Monday, November 9, the first time Players/ Alternates arrive at PGA Golf Club, all will undergo thermal and questionnaire screening prior to entering the PGA Golf Club parking area. Players/ alternates will be directed to turn right and proceed directly to the COVID-19 Testing tents near the far side of the parking lot.
Since COVID-19 test results will not be available until 7am the following day, and all participants must test negative prior to accessing the practice facility or playing practice rounds, players/ alternates should plan to test on the day prior to the first day they want to access PGA Golf Club for practice and/or practice rounds. This means participants must test by 6pm Monday to practice on Tuesday and test by 6pm Tuesday to practice on Wednesday and to play on Thursday. Please adjust your travel plans and /or schedules to adhere to this new protocol.
Essential persons (players/ alternates/ rules officials/ PGA staff) are required to participate in medical/thermal screening and COVID-19 testing. Only those participating, or alternates, in the Championship will be admitted into the testing area (photo ID required).
Players/ Alternates are required to complete a daily wellness and symptom assessment questionnaire during their daily thermal screening procedure.
All essential PGA staff and rules officials will be tested for COVID-19 and will undergo daily thermal screening as well.
Please Note: We are working with the county regarding protocols for the event, all of which remain subject to change. We want to make you aware of the anticipated conditions of the competition and testing protocols, and the fact that -- due to the constantly evolving directives and protocols we may need to put in place -- there could still be changes concerning these protocols for all who participate in the Championship. We will continue to update you on changes as we near the Championship dates.
If a player/ alternate tests positive for COVID-19 on-site, they will be removed from the competition, given contact information for a Department of Health representative for consultation and asked to quarantine per CDC guidelines. Any player who competes in the Championship and makes the cut, but is unable to finish due to illness or registering an elevated temperature (of 100.4°F) twice (as detailed below), will receive 3rd Round “missed the cut” prize money.
According to the CDC, people with COVID-19 have a wide range of symptoms, which may appear 2-14 days after exposure to the virus. Symptoms may include: Fever, Cough, Fatigue, Shortness of breath, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell.

Tuesday 7am – 6pm Presidents Board Room
Wednesday 7am - 12pm Presidents Board Room
Testing is only available during the dates/hours listed above. There will be no late testing available.

Players/ Alternates will not be allowed to enter Contestant Registration until they have received NEGATIVE COVID-19 test results, completed a health and symptom assessment questionnaire and passed thermal screening.
After receiving a negative test result (the following morning), proceed to Contestant Registration to receive a lanyard/credential which indicates that you have been cleared to play and practice. Please wear this lanyard at all times while on club property or have it readily available while playing or practicing. Players/ alternates will also be given a package containing disposable facial coverings, a money clip, yardage books, as well as other PPE items at Contestant Registration.
Contestant Registration - Wanamaker Room – PGA Golf Club Clubhouse
Dates | Tuesday, November 10 & Wednesday, November 11
Times | Tuesday 7am – 5pm
Wednesday 7am – 3pm
For players that undergo testing on Wednesday, and after receipt of a negative test result, please come to the Championship Office for a “cleared” lanyard and other registration materials.
Players/ Alternates must undergo thermal and questionnaire screening daily prior to entering the PGA Golf Club parking area. Fever is one of the most common symptoms of COVID-19. In the event that an individual has an elevated temperature (greater than or equal to 100.4°F), they will be re-screened after 5 minutes. Individuals whose temperature is elevated a second time and/or those experiencing other COVID-19 symptoms will be withdrawn from the Championship and given information to consult a local physician.
Once cleared, participants will be given a daily sticker which should be worn and easily seen by staff, rules officials and other participants throughout the day.
Thermal Screening Dates | Tuesday, November 10 - Sunday, November 15
Times | Tuesday – Saturday 5am – 5pm
Sunday 5am – 3pm
After undergoing, and completing, each DAILY thermal screening and symptom questionnaire, those being tested will receive a color-coded sticker for that day, which must be made visible/available while at the practice facility and the starting tee prior to beginning a round. If a player cannot produce this colored sticker, they will be directed to return to the screening tents to be re-tested, prior to teeing off. There will be no exceptions given for late to the tee due to thermal screening and the rules of golf will be fully applied.
In an effort to maintain the health and safety of all participants, players/ alternates must make every effort to adhere to recommended physical/social distancing guidelines throughout the competition and limit interaction as much as possible. This includes no shaking hands or other physical contact (e.g., fist bumps, high fives, etc.).
Players/ Alternates will be required to wear personal protective equipment, such as facial coverings indoors and outdoors when not playing golf, during the Championship and in such circumstances when directed by the PGA of America (this includes the scoring area and when entering the Championship office).
Sanitizer stations will be located throughout the courses. Wash hands with soap and water frequently before and after each round. Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth. Make sure to sneeze or cough into a tissue or inside of your elbow.
Players/ Alternates should make every effort to rake bunkers appropriately (every golf car should have its own rake) and remove, tend and replace flagsticks when needed (sanitize hands after handling flagsticks).
The range will have limited access (limited to 30 minutes of practice time prior to your round) and hitting stations will be placed according to social distancing guidelines. The range may need to be shut down periodically to retrieve balls, clean/sort and prepare them for players during the day.
While participating in the 2020 National Car Rental Assistant PGA Professional Championship, please adopt a “shelter at home” approach during your entire stay. It is recommended that take-out and room service is used for food and beverage, and in-dining at all bars and restaurants strongly discouraged. Also, strongly discouraged are hotel amenities such as use of fitness facility, valet parking and dry cleaning.
COVID-19 testing and daily thermal screening are required as a Condition of Competition, subject to disqualification.
· Caddies are not allowed.
· Golf cars are mandatory – one person per car.
· Players may pick up their golf car after leaving the practice range and prior to departing for their starting tee.
· Hole locations and notice to players will be available on-line (at 7pm the night prior to the following round) and a few copies will be available on the starting tee.

· A “riding scorer” will accompany each group in a separate golf car during the final two rounds.

Please read and sign the Specific Notice Regarding COVID-19 and COVID-19 Screening and Testing Acknowledgement and Agreement provided to you. Please return both signed documents no later than Tuesday, November 3, to sbowers@pgahq.com or fax 561.366.2905.
