All expectations of the students will be posted in Google Classroom. If you would like to receive weekly summaries of your student's classroom, please make sure to fill out the Parent Information Form on my homepage and include your email. I will enter it in and you will automatically be in all your student's Google Classrooms (you only need one teacher to add you). Links to Zoom meetings will be posted there for security, and I will email you the link I will use for Parent Office Hours separately, again, for security. Students will go to classroom.google.com and login with their Pfisd login. Passwords were reset to the default: xMMDDPF!
The State and District guidelines make it clear that students should attend class during the scheduled times. The District has posted the Return to Learn: Virtual Learning guidelines on its website: https://www.pfisd.net/Page/7836.
Synchronous Zoom Meetings will be scheduled for a minimum time of 30 minutes during each period.
The first fifteen minutes of each period should be spent filling out the attendance form posted daily in Google Classroom and gathering your notes/materials
The next 30-45 minutes will be spent live on Zoom taking notes, going over assigned reading, completing an activity to support the material, and more.
The rest of class will be an asynchronous time for students to work on their assignments, watch assigned videos, or stay on with me if they have additional questions that day.
If you cannot attend synchronously one day, please make sure to fill out the attendance form anyway to be counted present no later than 4:30pm that day. This should not be a regular occurrence, and parents will be contacted if too many synchronous meetings are missed.
PfISD’s Virtual Learning Live Interactions: Privacy & Confidentiality
Students will be expected to complete a variety of assignments including but not limited to reading, writing, analysis, research, group and individual projects and critical thinking tasks.
The State and District guidelines make it clear that students should attend class during the scheduled times. I will post a Daily Check-In form on Google Classroom that students should complete each class day. If the student attends the mandatory Zoom meeting, they will be counted as present for the day. If a student misses the Zoom meeting, they can still be counted present if they fill out the Daily Check-In form. Please complete the form by the end of the school day (4:30pm) each day to avoid unnecessary paperwork to correct attendance.
However, the Daily Check-In form should not take the place of the synchronous Zoom meeting. Since much of the synchronous time will be spent working collaboratively to deepen understanding of the material, it will be a disadvantage for a student to miss it. If several Zoom meetings are missed, I will be contacting a parent to develop a plan in order to ensure the success of the student.
