Katelyn Hernandez is a flutist from Phoenix, Arizona. She completed her Bachelor of Music in Flute Performance from Arizona State University While living in Arizona, Katelyn was principal flute of the ASU Symphony Orchestra and the ASU Wind Ensemble. She also performed with the ASU Chamber Winds, a graduate double woodwind quintet during her undergrad, and the Windigo Woodwind Quintet. She also wrote an honors thesis entitled The Rise of the 20th Century Female Orchestral Flutist.
She relocated to Madison, Wisconsin in 2020 where she completed her Master of Music in Flute Performance from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and served as principal flute of the UW Wind Ensemble. Katelyn also performed with the Four Seasons Theatre and the La Lirica Musica Opera in productions of The Music Man, La Traviata, and La Cenerentola. Her flute and clarinet duo, Duo Cognada, performed a variety of repertoire at UW Madison and in the Madison community.
She has been a fellowship recipient of the Imani Chamber Winds Festival, a Young Artist at the Decoda Chamber Music Festival, and a Performer at both the Maine Chamber Music Seminar and the Iowa Flute Intensive. Katelyn is a prize winner of the Arizona Flute Society Collegiate Competition and a Finalist for the ASU Concerto Competition.
Katelyn is also an accomplished teacher. She has held a private flute studio in both Arizona and Wisconsin, where her students have been recognized in regional and state events. She has coached flutists of the Wisconsin Youth Symphony Orchestra in addition to numerous middle and high schools in Wisconsin. She has been an adjudicator and clinician for the Wisconsin Flute Festival. Katelyn was also a Music Theory Teaching Assistant at UW Madison for two years. She now resides in North Austin with her husband, an oboist, and they both teach across the Austin area and have students in and out of the Austin area reaching Georgetown, Pflugerville, and Kyle outside the city.
She has performed for flutists including Carol Wincenc, Jim Walker, Marianne Gedigian, Brandon Patrick George, and Nicole Esposito. Her primary teachers include Elizabeth Buck and Conor Nelson.
Oboist Clara “Freddie” Blood enjoys her life as a versatile performer and educator with
over fifteen years of experience who engages audiences with performances in solo, chamber music, and orchestral settings throughout the greater Austin area. She served as an Oboist with the Navy Fleet Bands from 2017- 2022 and completed tours with Navy Band Southwest in San Diego, CA. and Navy Band Great Lakes in Great Lakes, IL.
While stationed in San Diego Clara served as Adjunct Professor of Oboe at the
University of San Diego and MiraCosta College.
Clara completed a doctorate in Oboe Performance and Pedagogy at the University of
Texas at Austin in 2016, where she served as the Oboe Studio Teaching Assistant. Clara performs as a substitute musician with the San Diego Symphony and frequently appears with the California Chamber Orchestra and Strauss Symphony of America. She has also performed with the New World Symphony, Austin Symphony, and the West Point Band.
Clara earned her Bachelor of Music Performance degree at Rice University and Master of Music in Orchestral Oboe Performance at the Manhattan School of Music before beginning her Doctorate of Musical Arts at the University of Texas. Outside of music Clara enjoys CrossFit, running marathons, and cooking.
Mrs. Scott has been a clarinetist for 26 years. She is from El Paso, Texas and earned her Bachelor’s in Music Education from New Mexico State University and a Master’s in Music from The University of Texas at El Paso. She began teaching clarinet lessons in college and has worked as a high school and middle school band director in the El Paso and Austin areas. She is certified to teach all grade levels in the fields of music and special education. This is Mrs. Scott's third year working with schools in PfISD. She has performed with the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra, El Paso Wind Symphony, multiple top-level community bands in cities throughout Texas, and is currently a member of Cedar Park Winds. Mrs. Scott is excited to be a part of the Bohls Bronco Band team!
Suzanne Charney is a doctoral student in Music and Human Learning at the University of Texas at Austin, where she teaches undergraduate courses in instrumental methods, is a teaching assistant for undergraduate and graduate level coursework, and is a Field Supervisor for student teachers.
Originally a trumpet player from Springfield, Ohio, she earned her Bachelors of Music Education and graduated with High Distinction from Indiana University. She taught middle and high school band in Indiana and in central Texas and was honored to be selected as a Top Ten Teacher of Influence. She returned to Indiana University to pursue a double Master of Music Degree in Wind Conducting and Music Education. While at Indiana University, Suzanne was an Associate Instructor for the Marching Hundred and undergraduate conducting courses, Interim Athletic Band Director, and guest conductor for their wind ensembles.
Suzanne’s research interests include procedural memory consolidation, attention allocation, and teacher identity. Her research has recently been presented at the NAfME National Conference and the Texas Music Educators Association Clinic and Convention. She is dedicated to creating quality learning experiences for future students.
