FAQs

Does my child have to take the ACCESS?

If your child is part of the English Language program they will have to take the ACCESS for ELLs each year until they have a composite score of 5.0 or higher.

If you have a child who is an English Language Learner, but you have refused EL support services, your student DOES have to take the ACCESS for ELLs test. This provides accountability for our district, as well as key data.

What kind of services will my child receive?

The amount of services your child receives will depend on their language need.

If your child has a very low level of English, they will receive small group instruction from our ELL teacher several times a week.

If your child has a higher level of English, they will receive support from the EL department through teacher trainings and check-ins.

If you ever feel as though your student needs more support, please do not hesitate to contact the EL department!
