I love Mary Collins School

This is my 20th year of teaching at MCCV. I started out as a 7th/8th grade teacher, then I taught K/1 for ten years, and now I am absolutely loving teaching 2/3. We have such an amazing school, and I am so lucky to have spent my entire career here. My daughter was at our school K-8 and is now a high school senior, and my younger daughter is in first grade here this year. My whole family is connected to our school--Mr. Yu, my husband, teaches 7th and 8th grades right across the garden from me--in my old classroom!

A Little Bit More About Me

The Outdoors

Being outside makes me feel whole. I love stand-up paddleboarding, teardrop trailer camping and hiking...and I especially love sharing time in nature with friends, family and my wonderful students. We are so lucky to be right next to the school garden with this incredible classroom! Every person can connect to nature and help to become a steward of the Earth.

Improv

I am passionate about the art of improvisation. I not only enjoy my time as a performer on stage in San Francisco, but I bring this love into the classroom with applied improv games & activities for all learners. I have also been training other teachers, executives, and presenting this work at conferences for well over a decade.

Mentorship & Collaboration

I am honored to be able to mentor and work with a wide variety of inspiring colleagues across grade levels at our TK-8 school. As a teacher-leader, I coordinate student study team meetings, plan & facilitate professional development, am part of a multi county-wide math teacher leader fellowship, and I am a part of the district-wide initiative on lesson study--addressing equity and inclusion in mathematics.
