A New Era of Visible Learning, Accountability and Care for ALL
Updates will be added regularly to keep you up to date and in the know with the latest Virginia-aligned curriculum initiatives, instructional strategies, and opportunities for growth.
Petersburg City Public Schools has developed a K–12 instructional framework that defines what strong Tier 1 instruction looks like in every core subject and places students at the center of learning. Using high-quality, standards-aligned materials, teachers design lessons where students actively think, talk, write, and solve problems while real-time data guides instructional decisions. This approach ensures consistent, structured instruction in every classroom and maximizes engagement from bell to bell. It also creates regular opportunities for feedback, reflection, and independent thinking so students build deep understanding, take ownership of their learning, and have equitable access to grade-level content. Through this framework and high-quality curriculum resources, Petersburg students develop stronger critical thinking skills, greater motivation, and graduate with more choices for their futures.
