Clubs & Enrichment

We believe in the importance of fostering a love of learning and stimulating curiosity through exposure to a wide range of activities and opportunities beyond the classroom and we offer over 20 different clubs and societies for students to join.

We also understand that some students may not be able to access additional clubs or activities outside of school, therefore the majority of our clubs are provided by staff completely free to students.

Raspberry Pi

We are going to share and programme only one Rpi and work as a group of maximum 5 people.

Debate

Learn how to persuade a crowd and win debates with a top university mentor. Committed students will have the opportunity to join the debate squad and represent Petchey Academy in national competitions.

Lego Club

The Lego Club is a competition which runs for 20 weeks. Students will be given a topic and need to design, build and program an autonomous Lego robot to solve a series of missions. The challenge involves a robot game and research project, and students will be judged on the core Lego values they demonstrate. It is a worldwide competition and this is the third year we will be competing in the competition.

Doc-Soc

Students will watch a range of different documentaries that are relevant to the social sciences course. They will explore the ideas and themes explored in the documentaries and apply them to their studies, for example, crime documentaries are relevant to both Sociology and Psychology.

By doing your DofE, you’re in for an amazing adventure and masses of fun as you take part in a range of activities, all leading to the achievement of an Award that’s recognised by universities and employers alike.

Students will work as a company to prepare a scene and number from musical ‘Grease’ in preparation for the whole school production next year.

Petchey Pride

Join Petchey Pride, or pop by anytime, to ask questions, share stories, and make friends in a safe space. Each week we will learn more about LGBTQ and gender topics, and celebrate LGBTQ role models throughout history. We will work as a team to campaign and raise positive LGBTQ awareness in the community.

East Asia Culture Club

Ni hao Naruto! Come along to celebrate and share your love of East Asian culture with weekly kung fu classes, Nintendo and Sony gaming competitions, manga and anime film events, and plenty of East Asian food, music, arts and crafts. Oh... and KPOP!

We are offering an exciting opportunity to gain an extra qualification! NO EXAM – Just Fun challenges that you choose. You can even get credit for previous achievements and clubs you already attend!

Learn the four basic strokes in table tennis and develop these into exciting fast-paced competition play! Last year our students came 9th in the London Youth games!

Deaf Choir

The Hackney Learning Trust are working to raise Deaf Awareness and promote inclusion by running a Deaf Choir at The Petchey Academy. In the weekly sessions participants will learn to sing and sign a number of well known classics.

A fun and engaging choir for all students with opportunities for soloists! You will be singing a wide range of styles and preparing music for concerts and school productions. Students will have the opportunity to sing wide range of songs and improve their vocal technique.
