Upon arrival, your hosts will meet you to direct you to the appropriate door for unloading students/equipment. Students WILL REMAIN on the buses until they are stamped & given further instructions. After unloading, buses/equipment trucks will be directed to their designated parking areas. If your group is individually driving to the competition, please make sure they are all in the same place a the same time to get their hands stamped.
Directors will report to the Registration room in the Allied Health room in the PHS School Building as students are getting stamped. All students, band members, directors, and student crew must have a hand stamped to be allowed admission to the competition. Directors/choreographer badges (3 per group) will be pick up at registration. No one other armbands will be passed out.
Admission is as follows:
*Friday night: $15
*Saturday all day: $20
*Friday/Saturday combo: $25
*We will have the ability to pay with card at the ticket booth ONLY but NOT at concessions. There is a $1 service charge (per armband) if paying with a card.
Once everyone is stamped & everything unloaded, your hosts will take you to your homeroom. A room will be provided for each group; you may keep your performing attire, personal items, small props, instruments, etc. in this room. No student will be allowed to enter the room without an adult. (This is the for the safety of all students). No food or drink (except water) is allowed in the homerooms. NO FOOD OR DRINK IN THE PERFORMING ARTS CENTER.
DAMAGE OR DEFACING OF SCHOOL PROPERTY WILL BE DEALT WITH ACCORDINGLY. IF DAMAGE IS FOUND, THE DAMAGE WILL BE ASSESSED AND BILLED TO THE SCHOOL TO THE ATTENTION OF THE PRINCIPAL. Directors, please check your homerooms before you leave campus.
All singer/dancers must be enrolled students at the performing show choir's school. Sequencing is NOT allowed for show choirs using a band. Pyrotechnics are prohibited, and there will be NO SPECIAL LIGHTING used for any group. Performers are NOT ALLOWED to leave the stage and enter the audience at any time during the performance.
Show Choir must compete in the appropriate category based on how many members are on stage. Groups can opt to move to a larger division if they so choose.
An equipment area will be provided and will be under adult supervision. Please communicate to your students/adults that this area is NOT somewhere to "hang out in" or have a "jam session in." This room is simply a storage area.
Following the preliminary competition, the auditorium will be cleared before the finals competition begins. ALL groups not making finals are asked to load their equipment back onto the buses, trucks, etc. immediately following the daytime awards to help with traffic and space for the finals competition. For all groups not making finals that wish to stay and watch, admission will be $5 per person for all performers.
Provided equipment: We will provide 4 sections of 4x8 platforms, with leg heights of 8", 16", and 24" legs. Groups may add but may not take away from this configuration. A fourth level will be provided for groups that need it. A baby grand piano, one amp, and a Pearl drumset will be provided. All other equipment will need to be provided by your group.
Sound equipment: The stage will have 5 audio-technica hanging mics. There will be 5 cordless mics across the front with 3 additional wireless solo mics on short stands. Please instruct soloists to use the mics on the short stand not the 5 main mics across the front row, as this affects your vocal sound. One adult who knows your show is allowed at the sound booth to cue any solos. NO vocals of any kind are allowed on CD accompaniment for the group competition; your group will be disqualified.
CA Video Productions will be recording this year. Families can purchase a Digital Download (not a DVD) of their school's group. Once you purchase the Digital Download, you can download the file to any computer (not cell phone). Please no videotaping and NO flash photography during the performances.
The first row (and floor area) of the middle section will be reserved for friends/family of the group performing on stage. Make sure to leave those rows available for those people and then leave those seats upon the conclusion of your groups' performances.
No headsets/lapel microphones will be allowed on choir members except those designated solosists as listed in the group information sheet.
A Cappella
(This is just like Acafest)
Students will use the back hallway to line up for entry. Once there, please make sure that you are lined up single-file in mic number order.
You will remain in the back hallway until our staff come to get you. Then you will proceed to the wings. You will take the mic from the previous group as they exit the stage.
Your time begins at the first note sung. You will have 10 minutes to perform. Time will stop at the last note/movement. The penalty is 2 points (per judge) for every 30 seconds that you exceed the 30-minute time limit.
Following your performance, you will exit stage left and hand your mics off to the next group. You will exit the area via the stage right door. Please quickly take your seats or exit the auditorium before the next group begins.
