Mrs. Friend

Hello! My name is Melanie Friend and I am a second grade teacher at Petal Primary School. I am married to Robert Friend, who is a Petal graduate and we have two sons, Ethan and Eli. They are both graduates of Petal High School and are now in college. We attend Carterville Baptist Church. Petal has been home to my family for the last 15 years. I am so excited to start year 18 of doing what I love. Teaching children and watching them grow is a passion of mine. When I'm not teaching I enjoy spending time with family and friends, reading, and spending time with my sweet pup, Summer.

I am a graduate of Seminary High School. I have an associate's degree from Jones County Junior College. I earned a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education (K-6) from William Carey University. I am also certified to teach Social Studies (7-12) and Reading (K-12). I have taught Kindergarten, 1st grade, 3rd grade and 2nd grade. I am currently starting my 11th year of teaching 2nd grade and it is my favorite!
