Robotics and Energy

Welcome to Automation and Robotics. This is a semester course.

In Automation and Robotics, students learn about the historical development of the robot and future developments in robotics. Students will solve a series of problems that will provide design, fabrication, programming, and troubleshooting opportunities using VEX robots.

Next, the students will learn about the different types of mechanisms that cause movement within a robot. They will then build all of the mechanisms and find ways to connect them in creating compound mechanisms.

After building their mechanisms, the students will begin creating remote controlled and programmed robots to complete different tasks. Throughout the process, they will also learn about the basics of coding and flow charts.

This course will allow them to have a seamless transition to the high school robotics program and possibly into the different engineering tracks available at Perry High School.  Not only will there be a focus on the past, present and future of robotics, an emphasis will be put on problem solving and teamwork throughout the course.
