There are a variety of technology tools that you can use for different instructional goals and objectives. Listed below are categories and some suggested tools that are linked to the sites. Also, there are links to SAMR documents. SAMR is the next phase of tech integration - the transformation of student learning as a result of technology integration. SAMR = Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition. As we continue to master the 1:1 model, we are looking beyond tech as a substitute and augmenter of lessons, but to have students modify and redefine their learning as a result of the technology.
As you plan which technology tool to use, you should be considering the purpose for using the tool. Ask yourself the following:
Will this tool help me and/or my students save time?
Will this tool create an effective way to collaborate?
Will this tool add a meaningful way to express learning?
Will this tool assist in effectively reaching a chosen audience?
Will this tool support connections and sharing with others outside of our school walls?
Will this tool support creative thinking?
Will this tool assist in making deeper connections?
Will this tool support problem solving?
Will this tool assist in evaluating and analyzing information?
Will this tool assist in personalizing the learning experience?
