LMC Scheduling
Research shows that students improve their reading skills, achievement scores, and information, media, and ICT (technology) literacy skills by a greater percentage when their teachers collaborate with the librarian (Gormley & McDermott, 2015; Lance, 2002; Loertscher, 2014).
You may schedule your classes in the Media Center for research, book selection, Ipads, makerspace, digital or informational literacy lessons or any other collaborative lesson. For these types of assignments, booking the Library Media Center requires the following:
A pre planning meeting with Kim Luppino before you make up the assignment
Check availability of dates on the LMC schedule
A copy of the student assignment
Complete the Class Visit Planning Form
**Please note: If your entire class needs to TYPE an ASSIGNMENT and/or PRINT ONLY, please check the availability of Computer Lab 102 FIRST (before requesting to use the LMC), which has desktop computers and printers. There is no color printer in room 102.**

If your students need to use the desktop computers anywhere in the building, please email Kim Luppino for the list of student logins. Please do not send them to the library for their log in info.

Coming Soon: "Drop In" PD Sessions
Drop-In PD sessions will take place during each of the teacher’s PLCs. Teachers who are interested in the PD will be able to drop-in to the school library at the beginning of their PLC time to enjoy refreshments and participate in instructional technology-related professional development. Drop - In PD will offer an overview of the instructional technology, relevant resources, some hands-on practice, and then a practical follow-up activity for teachers to complete on their own. To receive .5 - 1 hour of PD credit (which can be applied to Domain 4) , attendees will write a very brief reflection and submit a digital artifact, such as a screenshot or image via a Google Form which demonstrates their use of the technology. Upon completion of the form, you will receive your certificate. If there is software you would like to see featured in a Drop In Session, please email Kim Luppino.
Noteworthy Tech for Future Drop- In Sessions
YES, we use it, but what ELSE can you do with it?
Students and their parents are required to read and sign the Pequannock School District Acceptable Use Agreement.
Before assigning an Internet related project, make sure your students have permission to sue the internet.
In the library, students should use the Internet for school related activities ONLY.
In Sixth Grade, students must use given websites.
In Seventh and Eighth Grades, students may begin searching for good sites AFTER a web evaluation lesson.
Our school Internet access is filtered. If you are not getting a site you need, a quick ticket to the IT Desk should allow the site past the firewall.
Students on the Internet need to be supervised. Filters are not foolproof.
Twenty- five Ipads are available for class use in the Media Center only.
Check Ipad availability here.
All requests for individual or class reservations for the Ipads must be made via email to Kim Luppino.
If you do not see an app you need on the Ipad, you may request it by putting in a MOJO Help Desk ticket to the IT Department.
Students will be required to fill out a one - time Ipad usage agreement form.
While the Ipads are in use, the teacher is REQUIRED to keep track of each individual Ipad that has been assigned to each student using a copy of this sign up sheet.
The Library Media Center Professional Library houses the Loaner and Replacement Chromebooks for students. Many staff members assist in helping students with their Chromebook issues throughout the day. Please direct parents to email Allison Noon or Greg Jablonski in the IT Department if there are any questions about Chromebooks repair or management.
Procedures
If a student has left their Chromebook at home or their Chromebook is uncharged, they can borrow a Chromebook from a Chromebook Help Location.
The LMC opens at 7:35 AM. Please encourage students to take care of their Chromebook needs and repairs prior to their first period class, even if they have gym first period.
All teachers are required to have a Chromebook charger in their classroom for emergency purposes. If you do not have a charger, please email Allison Noon to get a charger.
Chargers are NEVER loaned to students.
Headphones or earbuds are NEVER loaned to students.
Chromebook Help Locations change for students throughout the day. Please make sure you are sending the students to the correct location.
If a student is having issues with their Google account, please send them to the Main Office.
