How long is the school day?
A: In a normal school year, first period begins at 7:29 and the day concludes at 2:40pm.
2. What do credits mean?
A: You earn credits for passing each of your classes with a grade of 63 or above and meet the state attendance requirements. Please see the handbook for information about attendance. You must earn 140 credits during your 4 years at PTHS.
3. When will I pick my classes for my freshman year?
A: Recommendations will take place during February of 2021 that will come from your 8th grade teachers. Once recommendations are entered, PTHS counselors will arrange a meeting with the student and their parents to review the recommended courses and choose elective courses.
4. Do I have to take the same language as I am current taking in middle school?
A: You can choose between French and Spanish at the high school level.
5. What if I am interested in applying for the academies?
A: Please watch the Academy Presentation on this website and it will outline all of the information about our academy program. Mr. Hayzler will be meeting with PV Students on November 2nd and 4th during their lunch window to discuss the academies.
6. Am I guaranteed to get the electives that I select?
A: Electives are not guaranteed in your freshman year. All freshman will take a state required financial literacy course as one of their half year elective choices. Electives are based on seniority and course availability.
7. Is there an orientation in the summer?
A: Yes! All freshman come in during the last week of August for an orientation where students receive a tour from our Senior Ambassadors and listen to guest speakers, teachers and the administration. Students review their schedules and receive their locker assignments.
