Introduction to the French Program

The Seaver College French program takes an interdisciplinary approach to the language, culture, literature, and history of France and other French-speaking regions throughout the world, preparing students for speaking, understanding, reading, and writing the French language. Besides developing a high level of proficiency in the spoken and written language, our French majors gain a critical understanding of French-speaking peoples, civilizations, and their global influence, both past and present. The French major prepares students for careers and graduate-level study in a variety of fields and is an ideal complement to majors such as international studies, international business, political science, communication, and art history, while also equipping students for work in nonprofit organizations that serve francophone regions.

Future options for German majors include international business, graduate studies, missionary service, Foreign Service work, or careers in education or technology.

Introduction to the Hispanic Studies Program

The Seaver College Hispanic studies (Spanish) program equips students with the language, skills, and knowledge to comprehend, speak, read, and write Spanish competently in real-life situations. Our Hispanic studies (Spanish) major prepares students to discuss the literature, culture, history and geography of Spain and Spanish America at a sophisticated level. Our ultimate goal is to foster awareness not just of another language and its culture, but also of the value of human diversity and each student's capacity to serve in light of this awareness.

Introduction to the International Studies Program

Our international studies major is one of the most viable ways to prepare for the ever-increasing international opportunities at the beginning of the 21st century. Students choose from eight specializations, offering flexibility to those interested in particular regions of the world.
