Introduction to the History Program

The history major is designed to help students understand the complex factors that have created the world as we know it today. Students develop skills in reading, research, writing, evaluation of texts, critical thinking, supporting an argument, and understanding of those different from themselves. The history major and minor provide a valuable background for many careers, including government service, law, education, library and archival work, business, medicine, and journalism.
