All students will participate in a variety of Academic and Career Planning activities provided by the Pepin Area School District. We have highlighted a few below:
(Each 11th grade student is required to do a job shadow while they are taking the Careers 11 class.)
*Under s118.55 Stats: Any public school pupil enrolled who has completed the 10th grade, is in good academic standing, and who meets notification requirements under PI 40 may apply to attend a technical college or 4 year college for the purpose of taking one or more courses.
*Notification Requirements:
*The following information must be completed and turned in to the school counselor.
*College (PI-8700A form) or Technical school CVTC Start College Now application) registration form.
*Letter to the board of education stating what your educational goals are and how the youth options program will help you achieve these educational goals. (Letter needs to be typewritten)
*The above materials must be turned in by:
*For fall semester by March 1st of the previous year.
*For spring semester by October 1st of the previous semester.
*Good Standings Requirements:
1.This experience will not jeopardize high school graduation.
*We want this to be a successful experience and do not want to risk high school graduation.
2. Must maintain the same eligibility standards as per described by the extracurricular code. See code for details.
3. Must maintain full time status. *Full time college status would be 12 college credits. *A combination of high school and college credits would work provided they equal full time status. (High school to college credits is on a 4/1 ratio)
4. The 2nd semester of Start College Now would be pending successful completion of the 1st semester.
5. There will be no failures in the last two semesters prior to application for Start College Now.

Student portfolios will be reviewed with students during homeroom period on a regular basis. Students will review portfolios with their school counselor at the following times:
5th and 6th grade: During Health and Guidance with Mrs. Smith.
7th grade: During Homeroom time throughout the year.
8th grade: During Careers 8 with Mrs. Smith and with parents during their ACP planning conferences.
9th grade: During Homeroom time throughout the year.
10th grade: During Homeroom time throughout the year and with parents during their ACP planning conferences.
11th grade: During Careers 11 with Mrs. Smith.
12th grade: During required senior conference with Mrs. Smith and during homeroom time.
Mrs. Smith and homeroom teachers will monitor completion of portfolio activities in the Career Cruising software.
