AIM
The aim of Year 7 Japanese is to develop in students:
basic oral, aural and comprehension skills in Japanese
knowledge of how to write sentences in Japanese
an understanding of Japanese culture.
CONTENT
Learn Hiragana (Japanese Characters).
Learn how to give and ask for personal information about themselves and others, both written and orally.
Learn how to construct sentences using grammatical patterns.
Learn how to speak in Japanese.
Learn about cultural similarities and differences.
Year 8 - Japanese - Course Overview
AIM
The aim of Year 8 Japanese is to continue to develop the following skills:
communication.
language – grammatical structures.
inter-cultural understanding.
CONTENT
The course follows the litomo 2 textbook with each chapter having a particular focus on Japanese life.
Unit 1: Daily routines
Unit 2: School Life
Unit 3: School Events
Unit 4: Hobbies
Unit 5: Anime
Unit 6: Festivals
The course is also aligned to the Australian Curriculum. Students will also focus on topic related vocabulary, Kanji (Chinese characters), and grammatical structures. They will also consolidate their Hiragana and will begin to learn Katakana. Students will use Quizlet to consolidate their learning of vocabulary and Kanji.
