Year 7/8 - Food & Textiles Technology - Course Overview 

COURSE - Food Technology

AIM

To cover basic food preparation, safely use equipment and reinforce the concept of healthy eating.

CONTENT

Food Technology: Kitchen Safety & Hygiene: including use of kitchen equipment with basic food preparation tasks and basic food nutrition and food labelling.


COURSE - Textiles Technology

AIM

To provide the opportunity for each student to safely use the equipment, processes and materials in textiles.

CONTENT

Students will develop machining skills and construction techniques through a problem solving approach by designing and making a storage container.


Year 9/10- Food & Textiles Technology - Course Overview 

COURSE - Food & Textile Technology 

AIM

Food Technology - To provide students with the knowledge, processes and skills for the kitchen and food industry.

Textile Technology - To provide students with knowledge of fibres, design pattern reading and improve skills on the sewing machine.

CONTENT

Food Technology - Australian Dietary Guidelines, Safe Food Handling, Food Labelling, Food Design & Development and Technology within the Kitchen.

Textile Technology - Fibre Classification & Properties, Recycled Products and Sustainability within the Industry.


COURSE - Food & Nutrition

AIM

To provide students with knowledge, processes and skills to enable them to make informed choices in promoting a healthy lifestyle related to Food and Nutrition and Hospitality.

CONTENT

Food & Nutrition - Term 1: Meal planning for specific needs, dietary analysis for specific age groups, nutrients and functions, understanding food labelling and processing. Term 2: Methods of cookery, multicultural foods and food design.
