Welcome to second grade. This is a year where you will see a huge change in your young child. I am so glad to be a part of this change and growth.
I believe strongly in the importance of technology – and our familiarity with it – in education. Many of the things we will do in class and things I ask at home will involve technology. We are lucky to live in Penn-Trafford, a district that believes in and emphasizes technology in education as well. To that end, I have a website which I use as a communication tool. I will try to include the web address at the bottom of each communication.
Communication is key to success in second grade. You may feel a little inundated at times with information from me. I believe that parent involvement is crucial to a child’s success, and the more informed you are, the better you’ll be. One of my personal goals is to reduce the amount of paper I use, so hopefully we’ll be able to use email and my website for most communication.
I believe in "The Power of Yet" and believing in what you CAN do, instead of what you CAN'T. I always felt that my parents believed in me, believed that I could do anything I set my mind to. They taught me to believe in myself as well. I think, as parents, that is one of the greatest gifts we can give to our children.

This year, your children will be learning how to do so many things! Sometimes they may feel unsure of themselves, frustrated, or even discouraged if they don't catch on right away. So much of kindergarten and first grade is quick learning for kids.
