GOOGLE WORKSPACE ACCESSIBILITY FEATURES

In addition to the accessibility features available via native Chromebook or Chrome options, various Google Workspace applications, including Google Docs, Slides, and Sheets, have additional accessibility features built in.

Google Workspace Apps Accessibility Settings

Each individual Google Workspace application, including Docs, Slides, Sheets, and Drawings, has specific accessibility option that can be enabled or disabled. While these options vary slightly by application, they are accessed in the same way.

In each application, click the TOOLS menu and select ACCESSIBILITY SETTINGS to select the desired options.

Voice Typing in Google Docs and Google Slides

Google Docs and Google Slides have Voice Typing built into the application via the Tools menu. For slides, this works in the Speaker Notes box.  The Voice Typing tool allows users to not only dictate text, but also to use voice commands to edit and format the document.

Customizing Google Fonts

Google Fonts is a website allows you to add fonts to any document created in G-Suite.  Some of these fonts help with reading comprehension.  For instance, a recent focus group determined that the newly-developed Lexend fonts resulted in a 20% increase in words per minute comprehension amongst third graders when compared with Times New Roman.
