A Pell Grant is money the U.S. federal government provides for students who need it to pay for college. Federal Pell Grants are limited to students with financial need, who have not earned their first bachelor's degree. To find out if you qualify, you must submit the FAFSA. If you receive this grant, you are not required to pay it back when you graduate.
On March 23, 2018, the President signed Public Law 115-141, the Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2018. Under this appropriation, the maximum Pell Grant award will increase to $6,095 for the 2018-2019 award year, and the corresponding maximum Pell Grant eligible expected family contribution (EFC) will increase to $5,486.
The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) can provide additional grant money to a student's financial aid package if he or she has demonstrated financial need.
Who is Eligible?
Undergraduates or vocational students who are enrolled at least half time are eligible. Priority is given to students already receiving a Pell Grant.
