Teachers will be notified by a building administrator.
Yes. Cameras are available for when a teacher has a student quarantined. Teachers are expected to have cameras on only during direct instruction time. There will be a 2-day window prior to a student joining the video from home to allow the teacher to prepare.
Teachers are required to use the cameras only for students with a doctor's note excusing them for an extended period of time. (3-20 days)
Secondary teachers will have the link to their Google Meet on the homepage of their Canvas courses.
Elementary teachers will have the link to their Google Meet on the left hand side of the Stream in Google Classroom.
Staff members may turn off the audio/video or end the Google Meet when no direct instruction is taking place, during group work, when the class moves outside and/or when the staff member deems streaming is impractical.
No. The camera will be used when necessary or at the discretion of the teacher. For example, a modeled lesson or direct instruction activity are ideal for using the camera. A live camera is not necessary during independent work or activities. The teacher decides when and how the camera should be turned on.
No. This is being provided as a service to our students who are in quarantine. Students who are quarantined will have an excused absence.
If a teacher has a student who will be absent due to quarantine for an extended period of time, it is required that the teacher post the instructional materials in Canvas (Secondary), or Google Classroom (Elementary) for communication, instructional materials, directions, and easy access to video conference.
The goal of temporary remote learning is to provide access to the class instruction. Students are expected to complete all missed assignments, but teachers will work with the individual students to establish modified due dates and/or expectations, as appropriate for the situation.
Students with IEPs and 504s will continue to receive services in connection with their current plan. Any questions or concerns will need to be directed to your student’s case manager.
Teachers can submit an IncidentIQ support ticket for technical assistance or contact an Ed Tech Coach for instructional support.
Parents can email parenttechhelp@pennsburysd.org if they need assistance.
When a student is quarantined, the building administrator will communicate with the family and make arrangements for the student to obtain a district Chromebook for use at home.
Remote learning will last for the duration of the student's quarantine or isolation as directed by a medical professional.
No. The Google Meets are synchronous only and do not need to be recorded.
When the regular classroom teacher is absent, an announcement will be posted on Google Classroom/Canvas. There will be no live Google Meet available on these days and quarantined students will work asynchronously. Substitutes are not expected to run Google Meets for quarantined students.
