The Symphonic Winds is one of three curricular bands at Pennsbury High School and is the flagship curricular band of the Pennsbury School District. Membership is determined by audition in the previous school year. The course is designed for all 10th, 11th and 12th grade brass, woodwind, and percussion students who wish to develop their ability to perform instrumental music at the highest level. Included are studies in instrumental technique, music reading, expressive playing, critical listening, diverse instrumental literature and performance skills. Students are required to take 2 lessons per quarter and all performances are mandatory. Membership in the Symphonic Winds is a prerequisite for participation in the Bucks County Youth Orchestra, BCMEA, PMEA All-District, All-Regional, All-State, All-Eastern Bands and Orchestras, the Jazz Ensemble, Pennsbury Concert Jazz Band, and the Pennsbury Marching Band.
