register FOR A CANVAS OBSERVER account

START HERE

Follow these 3 steps to create a parent/guardian Canvas account for the first time, and pair it with your child/children. You can also access the video and/or printable directions linked below to assist in this process.

OBTAIN A PAIRING CODE FROM Your Child

In order to set up an observer (parent/guardian) account for the first time, you will be asked to provide a "pairing code" for one of your children. This code can be found in each child's Canvas account. To obtain the pairing code, the child should log into Canvas and click on:

Account > Settings > Pair with Observer

Pairing codes are case-sensitive. Each pairing code is valid for one use or 7 days, whichever comes first. Each parent or guardian will need a unique pairing code for each child.

Pairing with a child is a one-time process that will link you to all of your child's Canvas courses for the duration of their time in Pennsbury.

Register for an Account

Parents and Guardians, also called Observers in Canvas, must register for a Canvas account using a personal email address. Each parent or guardian has the ability to create a unique observer account, as there is not a limit to the number of observers attached to each student. This account creation is a one-time process for each parent or guardian.

  1. Start by clicking the Canvas Login link below.

  2. From the login page, click the "Parent of a Canvas User? Click Here For an Account" link in the upper, right corner.

  3. Enter your full name, email address, your desired password, and the pairing code for one child. Then click "Start Participating."

Pair WITH ADDITIONAL Children

Each observer (parent/guardian) can "pair" multiple children to their new observer account. Once logged into the observer account using the pairing code from the first child, click on:

Account > Observing > Enter Pairing Code

There is no limit to how many observers can be paired with a particular student nor to how many students a particular observer can be paired with.

It is important to remember that pairing codes expire after one use, or 7 days, whichever comes first. Students can easily regenerate new pairing code for additional observers, as needed.

Also remember that pairing with each child is a one-time process that will link you to all of your child's Canvas courses for the duration of their time in Pennsbury.
