Read Across America

This book shelf contains just a few books by Dr. Seuss. When you click the book, you'll be taken to a page with resources that tie to the story. Each story includes a "Maker Mindset" idea for a literacy-based design challenge. A grade level is not designated, as teachers can differentiate supplies, budgets, and parameters as needed! If you have an idea or resource you'd be willing to share, please email Erin Reichert!

Click for codes to Dr. Seuss books read aloud. Simply have your students scan the code for a wonderful read-aloud experience! QR codes can be a fun way to change up something you are already doing in your classroom!

What is a QR Code? A Quick Response Code is a digital image that can be scanned without the beam of light needed to scan barcodes at the supermarket. You may have seen QR codes on flyers, subway posters, brochures and even cereal boxes. Students simply scan the code using the camera of their iPad or laptop, or a free QR reader app, and the QR takes them directly to a website!

You'll find some awesome Dr. Seuss green screen slides in this presentation! (Slides 42-46)

Simply download and save! There are tons of others, too! These are the backdrops. Take photos of your students in front of a green screen (green tablecloth), and use an app such as Do Ink to put your students right into the background!

Directed Drawing with Skype

During the month of March, we would love to Skype with your students and help them draw something unique. We will show them where we are located (this could vary), and explain to them how Skype can allow us to communicate all over the world! If you're new to Skype, this is a stress-free and easy opportunity to practice. All your students will need is a blank piece of paper and a pencil!

Drawings can include a leprechaun, Lorax (pictured on right), or frog!

Pick your favorite Dr. Seuss character. Type your favorite book in the speech bubble. Save your picture to the camera roll and upload to Seesaw to share!
