All students enrolled in virtual learning are subject to the same attendance policies and procedures as students attending in-person classes.
Students must sign in to the online learning platform and complete work daily. If a student signs in but does not complete at least one assignment each day, the student will be marked absent. Even if the student is ahead in their daily assignments, he or she must still sign on and complete at least one activity in order to be marked as in attendance.
Students are able to complete their school work early. If a student completes all assignments for all online courses early, signing on will no longer be necessary until either the new semester starts or the new school year beings.
In case of illness, students are required to submit an absence note within three days of the student's absence. Students are still responsible for completing any work assigned while they were out. Absence notes can be submitted via the Sapphire Portal, or by emailing either the Virtual Learning Secretary, Amy Ebersole, at amy.ebersole@pennmanor.net or the main attendance office at attendance@pennmanor.net.
Pre-planned trip forms must be completed for virtual learners attending a trip during the school year. The trip will need to be approved by administration in order to the dates to be counted as excused absences. Students will need to complete all assigned work during the time of the trip. It is recommended that students on a trip complete all virtual work due during the trip prior to leaving on the trip.
