My name is Mr. Cavis and I LOVE to teach! I am thrilled and honored to direct the Pennfield Bands. This is my 21st year as a band director. Please take a minute to explore this web site as it is the main source of information and communication for all events related to band. I am looking forward to working with our fine student musicians. I know they will make excellent music this year and represent Pennfield with pride!

I am originally from St. Clair MI on the far east side-I grew up looking at Canada! After high school, I attended Western Michigan University (Go Broncos!) and earned my Bachelors Degree in Music Education in 2005. I went back and earned my Masters Degree in Music Education in 2010.

My wife and I have been married for 17 years-she is a music teacher in Kalamazoo, MI. We met in the WMU Marching Band and have been together ever since.

We have a son named Anthony. He is obsessed with soccer. He currently plays travel soccer and most of our weekends are spent traveling to and watching his games. We also have our crazy dog Phoebe-she is a schnauzer/poodle mix and is Anthony's best friend.

When I'm not teaching, I enjoy spending time with my family, following the Detroit Tigers, and traveling. My wife and I are season ticket holders to Western Michigan Men's Basketball Games. I am also a masters swimmer-I compete in swim meets around the state of Michigan, and outdoor events like the Goguac Lake Swim and the Cereal City Triathlon (just the swim leg).

I truly enjoy teaching and I am thrilled to be teaching at Pennfield!
