Band Camp
Band Camp 2023
July 23-27, 2023
July 21st Update
Here we go! Camp starts Sunday afternoon at 4 pm in the Band Room. See the daily schedule below.
A few important items are listed here before we get started.
The student parking lot will NOT be accessible until Thursday of camp. Parking and drop-off will be at the staff lot on the other side of the building.
A reminder of what students need to bring to camp (from the Band Camp docs)
Instrument!
Refillable water bottle labeled with name
Hat and/or sunglasses
Sunscreen
Positive attitude and ENERGY
Low-top athletic shoes for marching (not brand new)
Extra t-shirt
STRING bags work great for camp to hold many of these items
The weather forecast for next week looks to be quite warm. Proper nutrition and hydration will make all the difference in the band's success during camp. Students must eat a good breakfast before coming to camp on Monday thru Wednesday and eat their own lunch on Thursday. Band Camp is hard work but student safety and health is our number one priority.

Documents
The Band Camp documents are located above this text. You can click and print them and bring them to camp on the first day. I'll also have copies available on the first day. Some (not many) of you filled these out before we left school in June. Be sure to follow the "packing" list and get the things you need. We will be supplying everyone with a new flip folder and lyre for camp.
Payments, Band Camp is $110 dollars. You can pay on the first day or you can use Band Account money for camp. Contact me via email (driverb@pennfield.net) if you plan to use band account money for camp or if you need to know your balance.
Music
Our show this year is called "Movie Hits of 80s" and includes the songs Danger Zone from Top Gun, Glory of Love from Karate Kid 2, Ghostbusters, and Power of Love from Back to the Future. The music is right at our level and will sound amazing when we get it learned. You can listen to and watch the scores at the links below:
Glory of Love (this link is the playlist for all the parts thanks to Ms. Sayles who arranged this song for us)
We also will have some stand cheers, the fight song, and Star-spangled Banner to learn.
Band Camp Food
Dinner on Sunday, and lunch and dinner on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday will be provided. The dinners will be catered by Kellogg Community College Food service. We are taking some suggestions for menu items for dinner. We can accommodate some food allergy situations but not all, especially for lunch and snacks. Students with diet restrictions and guidelines should plan to bring their own snacks and/or lunch.
More updates to come this week! Stay tuned and I can't wait to see you all.
