*If your child has a recorder from last year, they are welcome to use it regardless of brand.

*Students should bring their recorders to school by the first week of October. 

Music Grading Scale 3rd-5th Grades

Performance = 75%

*Student meets lesson objectives

Participation = 25%

*Following directions

*Respecting classroom instruments

*Small and large group cooperative learning 

Final Grade 3rd-5th Grade: Points to Letter Grade Scale (per Pender County Schools for Specials)

80%-100%= Satisfactory   S

70%-79% = Needs Improvement   N

69% and lower = Unsatisfactory    U

*1 point performance

*1 point participation/following directions

*1 point cooperative learning

**1 point for going above and beyond grade level 

Final Grade K-2nd: (Per South Topsail Elementary K-2 Grading Scale)

1= Limited Performance---having trouble with this skill, really need to work on it

2=Not Yet Proficient---not yet showing mastery---may just need a little more time to master the skill

3= Proficient---On grade level ---meeting current expectations

4=Exceeds Expectation (Above Grade Level)---working well above grade level expectations
