Family time is important! I understand that you only have a few precious hours each evening with your child and you want to enjoy your time together. Also, first graders are young and the school day is long. That is why we do not assign lengthy homework each night. Students will, however, be expected to read every single night during the school year. Reading includes both practicing sight words, as well as, reading books. I will be sending home weekly Bag Books that your child can choose to read; or they may read books you already have at home. Please let your enthusiasm about reading be contagious! I cannot emphasize enough how important nightly reading is to your child’s academic success!
