Positive reinforcements-stickers, extra recess, smiley face on the board, extra free time to choose what to do with guidance, selection of what class to have next are a few examples.
The classroom and school expectations are explained, modeled, and practiced at the beginning of the school year. The student is reminded about the expectations. If the expectations are not met the student's name goes on the board. The name can be erased if the expectation is met. If the student continues then a check is placed beside the student's name and 3 minutes of recess is needed and the parents are informed. If the student continues, another check is beside the name for another 3 minutes and the parents are informed. If a third check occurs the student proceeds to the administrator's office.
