Pearson Scott Foresman Reading Street is the program we use to teach Reading, Writing & Language Arts. Students will work to read and write various fiction and non-fiction stories this year. In reading we focus on decoding words, understanding the stories we read and reading with fluency.
In writing, students will work on conventions, content, handwriting and organization all while working through the steps of the writing process.
In speaking & listening, students will practice discussing various topics with their peers by responding appropriately and demonstrating age appropriate listening skills.
In addition, Independent reading is a huge step for first graders. We will do guided reading on a daily basis.

Our Scott Foresman Reading Street program offers a digital, interactive environment that parallells the print materials that we use in the classroom. Students and parents have access to an exact replica of the text via the Online Student Edition.
