Best Buddies is a club that has been around for many years at Pembroke.The club is all about inclusivity and fostering friendships between individuals with and without intellectual and developmental disabilities. The current advisers are Mr.Consolati and Ms. Costa.There are 35 members.
The club does various activities including bowling,holiday parties, and bingo.These club activities are voted on by the clubs elected officers and teacher leaders.They also have sold Superbowl squares during football season to raise money for the club activities.
Best Buddies is a club open for any grade and is always looking for new people.In following years Mr.Consolati says he hopes to " continue to facilitate quality relationships among the members” and tries to encourage engagement by doing an “array of activities.”
There are four elected officers Joe Butler as president,Mel Butler as Vice president, Libby Goff as secretary and Maya Giese as treasurer.Many of the officers were very honored and excited to be a part of this club. President Butler said it’s “been super exciting this year because of how fun it has been being able to organize all these events and also being able to participate in them.” Giese also expressed how she “loves putting a smile on people's faces. It's always fun to spend time with buddies and playing fun games.”
Best Buddies is a popular and growing club that helps create friendships. It also gives people an opportunity to work at the Coffee Bean on Fridays and help out the buddies.
Best Buddies Club runs every other week on Monday from 2:30 to 3:30.
