In guitar lab, many things are taught. One of the most liked things about guitar lab is how people can expand their knowledge about music. Guitar lab is taught by music teacher Austin Glass, who has played guitar since high school.
The amount of people in the guitar lab varies per class, consisting of ninth through 12th grade. The students in the guitar lab spoke out about their favorite songs they had learned. The answer was Wagon Wheel.
Some of my favorite things overall learned in the guitar lab are the chromatic scales and common folk songs. Molly King, a student in the guitar lab stated, “It was to expand my knowledge of playing the guitar along with the history."
When asked 'Would you recommend guitar lab to future students?' Molly King, one of the students involved in the elective, stated that students have to be “down for the challenge of learning a new instrument because it can be a very difficult process to learn an instrument you’ve never interacted with before.”
Since guitar lab is only a semester class, plenty of teachings and information are crammed into the five months that students have in class, which makes the class more fast-paced. Therefore, if students don’t work well with speedy learning, the guitar lab may not be for them.

Outer Banks Review

On October 10, 2024, Netflix released the first part of season 4 of the show Outer Banks. This first part contains the first five episodes of season 4. The second part of the season is planned to be released on November 7, containing the final five episodes of season 4.
Before the first part of the season came out, people were questioning whether they would like the season or what the plot would be, considering how season 3 ended. However, I believe that people are happy and surprised with how this season has turned out so far.
Many people were curious, before the release of this season, about what it would be about after the end of season 3. This is due to the fact that at the end of season 3, all the main characters claimed that they were done with mysteries and that they were happy with where they were, making people very skeptical about how the season would turn out.
I have watched the first part of the season and am very pleased with how it turned out. There were a lot of surprises and a major cliffhanger at the end of part one. I loved watching this show and was very excited when season 4 was released. I would say that I am incredibly happy with how it turned out.
Senior Marty Ward is in agreement. He also watched the first part of season 4 and was very pleased with the turnout. The first part of the season was “not what I was expecting, I did not think there would be another mystery”.
Senior Joe Butler also wanted the new season, claiming, “It was very good, a little better than what I was expecting”
Overall, people throughout the school are all in agreement with the fact that the new season of Outer Banks, so far, is better than what we were expecting. Students are all extremely excited for the second part of the season to come out and are curious about what other surprises the show has in store.
1, 2 ,3...Opinions on School Lunch

Lunch is a key part of the day, it’s like a pause between morning's endeavors and afternoon’s demands. At Pembroke High School, people have different opinions on the school's lunch.
Some could argue that it is great and some could say it’s not good. This is most students' favorite part of the school day, not just to eat but to also interact with friends you haven’t seen all day. Sharing a meal with other students provides an opportunity for connection, conversation, and community building. Whether it’s one of your favorite or least favorite lunches, you can still have a good time by relaxing and chatting with your peers.
Some days the lunches are already set, for instance, on Thursday it’s burger day and Friday it’s pizza day. If you don't have those options there are other choices too, the crispy and spicy chicken sandwich is a go to any day of the week.
Junior Will Pellagrini says, “My favorite lunch has to be the titan bowl even though the lunch ladies barely serve it."
Students here at PHS wonder why the best lunches are the least served? The drink selection is well-rounded with there being many selections, to something like apple juice and orange juice to milk that you can enjoy with a chocolate chip cookie. The bagged snacks cost some money but it is worth it for a bag of chips to eat with your lunch. If you aren’t full after lunch, they have a big selection of ice cream and popsicles.
The cafeteria has a lot of seating selection, from small round tables to big oval tables. The seniors get a special privilege of eating outside, when the temperature is right of course.
Junior Nick McCarthy stated, “I feel like the juniors should also be able to eat outside, the cafeteria gets really crowded sometimes."
At Pembroke, the lunches are separated into 3s. Depending on the class you have during the lunch block determines the lunch you have.
Junior Camryn VonDette said, “Lunch three is the best because it makes the day feel way shorter."
Some students prefer lunch one over the other two because you get to eat first without staying hungry for longer. Others could say lunch two is the better lunch because of how short it makes that class period feel with the break in the middle.
