Student Council

With over 80 members participating, the Student Council is involved in community service, promoting school spirit, fundraising for charitable organizations, and overall promoting a positive culture at Pembroke High School.

Student Council and members on the E-Board are responsible for the school spirit at Pembroke High School and they do this by having events like Spirit Week. Although they work together, the E-Board is mostly in charge of the fun events and Spirit Week themes.

“Generally we let the E-Board come up with their ideas,” says Miss Walls, who is co-advisor of Student Council.

The E-Board is currently talking about bringing back the infamous Anything But a Backpack day. Miss Walls has shared her worries and thoughts about bringing this back.

“We need to put some parameters around it… certain items were too large the last time.”

Matt Willshire, a senior on the Student Council, gave information on events during March Madness. The main event consists of a basketball game between the students and the teachers. His thoughts on the potential outcome are, "I think the students are going to win... we have a lot of talent on the court and the teachers won't be able to keep up."

One thing that the Student Council struggles with is getting people to participate.

“How do we make it more inviting… What's the missing factor?” says Mrs. Talbot who is also co-advisor of Student Council.

Student Council is always open for kids to join at any time and they need more kids to do a better job at promoting the school spirit throughout Pembroke High School.

The application process for getting into the Student Council consists of an interest meeting and one must have a GPA of 3.0 or higher. To become an officer you must serve as a delegate or a member for a year before they can be elected as one.
