From the Pembroke Public Library

Here are some additional resources from the Pembroke Public Library including usernames and passwords being offered.

  • PPL's hoopla subscription has hundreds of leveled readers that kids can read at their own pace. Available titles include lots of familiar characters like Pete the Cat, Amelia Bedelia, and Ranger Rick. Most of their early readers are from the "I Can Read" series, so patrons can input those three words into the search, find a level that works for them, and go from there! Families will need a library card to access hoopla, but if they don't have one they can sign up for free online.

  • Abdo Digital is an absolutely stellar resource! Their database of books has been made available to everyone for free until further notice. The most useful resource for this is their Elementary Bookshelf for pre-K - grade 8; they also have a Secondary Bookshelf for grade 5 - grade 12. They use the ATOS leveling system so some households may need to do some trial and error to figure out what level suits their child best, but it's easy to search for a leveled book once you know what you need!

  • World Book is also offering free access to all pre-K through grade 12 learning resources through April 30, 2020. Anyone can login by visiting https://www.worldbookonline.com with the username wbsupport and password distancelearning and have fun! Kids seeking leveled reading can go to the "Early Learning" section and select "Stories." While not all stories are leveled, at least half come with a Lexile level listed on the icon.
