Some memories from the team that started it all:

Cora

Throughout the years, the very first pink game has really stayed with me. It's not about the money; it’s about the cause. I lost my father to cancer, and I laid it all out on the court that night in honor of him. Being part of something so big from such a small community is amazing. I'm happy to still have a little involvement in this function and hope to keep this game alive for years to come.

My favorite memory was going to local places and seeing how generous everyone was. Putting everything aside and just doing something for the bigger picture the greater good was always such a pure moment. Every time we stepped out on the court, seeing everyone’s faces, and honoring all those women and men that were battling different types of cancer.

April

My favorite memory is playing hard to win. I have enjoyed watching such a remarkable community come together over the years. It is an honor to have been a part of an organization that is so full of love and continues to grow dedicated to meeting and exceeding their goals each year. #TENACITY!

One of my favorite memories was all of us getting our pink jerseys for the game. Then, in the years following, helping some teammates put pink into their hair, LOL. Also us just coming together as a team that day was very uplifting. We were all very excited to have a good cause to play for.

Something that has stuck with me is the memory of standing in the hallway before that first game when we took off our warm-ups and we had the pink uniforms on. I remember knowing it was a surprise and seeing the shock on Mr. Funke’s face before running into the gym. I also remember that feeling of running into the gym for warmups and the excitement of the event. It's unlike any other memory, but my favorite part was taking the check to Roswell the next day. It just made me feel so proud.

Chance

The best part of the game is the unity it brings to the community every year. It's amazing what an impact can be made when everyone comes together to support a cause. I'm proud to have been a part of this, and I love seeing it continue.

I honestly can't believe it has been 10 years since we first started this. My favorite memory would definitely be the day after the game and being able to take the ride to Roswell with the team to present the check, knowing that the school, community, coaches and teams all came together to make our goals, and making a difference in the world, possible. I am always excited every year to see the new goal the team has decided on and every year holding traditions and the outcome constantly keeps growing. It is truly amazing and the jitters and feelings all come flooding back the night of the game each year. I am sure it has been tough this year with the pandemic, but I know our community will come together and make the most of it yet again. Good luck this year, girls!

My favorite memory was being able to play my favorite sport with amazing teammates/friends and raise money for Roswell while playing, seeing the entire community (both Pembroke and the opposing team) come together and set aside differences to support this cause. I think one thing that has stuck with me after all this time was presenting the check to Roswell and having the patients, patients’ family members, and staff thanking us. Seeing the appreciation they had on their faces really put it into perspective that we were making a difference and making an impact.
