Welcome/Supply List

Dear newest members of Henderson Hive,

Welcome to first grade at Pelham Elementary School and our classroom, which is known as Henderson Hive!  I am thrilled to “bee” in my thirty-fourth year of teaching elementary classroom and my twenty-seventh year in first grade.  I have taught in both public and private schools in Michigan, Ohio, and New Hampshire and have been extremely proud to call Pelham Elementary School my home for the past fifteen years!  I am very pleased to have you as part of our class and am looking forward to the learning and growth that will take place this next year!

It was great to see so many of our incoming first graders at our very brief Move-Up Day time at the end of last school year!  I look forward to really "meeting" all of you when school begins!  I hope this summer that you enjoy the outdoors, get lots of exercise and “read” (or listen to) as many books as you can! I will stay very busy catching up on projects around my house, visiting relatives in Michigan, and spending time with my family.  I have two adult boys (one who got married last summer).  I, of course, will also “bee” getting our classroom ready and planning activities for your exciting first grade year in Henderson Hive!

The supply list for our class is below.  A fairly detailed “Introduction to First Grade” letter will be handed out at the beginning of the school year. This should answer many general questions about our classroom.  I communicate about and from our classroom using my teacher website, our weekly Henderson Happenings newsletter, and I will possibly be trying out Class Dojo this coming year.  Technology can help us keep in touch and efficiently provide you with information regarding school/classroom events.

I look so forward to meeting you at our Meet and Greet Day (August 26 9:00-10:00).  This will give you and your child a chance to visit the classroom, drop off his/her school supplies, and meet me.

Again, welcome to Henderson Hive-where we work together and respect each other for the good of the hive and all of the bees within!

HENDERSON HIVE SUPPLY LIST

In our classroom, each child will have their own supplies. Please refer to both the general supply list for first grade and the specific supplies for our classroom- both are listed below. Thank you in advance!

Student Supply List For Mrs. Henderson

Everything up above on general student supply list PLUS:

Please do not send colored pencils, rulers, highlighters, mechanical pencils, or pens.

Please make sure you have supplies for your child to use for home practice.  It’s always a great idea to buy extra supplies when they are readily available (and usually less expensive) for replenishing your child’s supplies as the year progresses.  When my own kids were younger, new school supplies would show up as presents at holiday time!

Thanks!
