Dear Third Graders,
My name is Carrie Dutil and I will be your third grade teacher this year. I am so excited that I get to share the year with you. I have been teaching here at PES for 17 years. I have four children, Owen, Jocelyn, Aaron, and Austin, a husband named David, lots of chickens and a hamster. You will hear lots of stories about them. When I am not teaching I love to hike, camp, and travel with my family. One summer we took a cross country road trip and explored some National Parks along the way. We also love to read together and I cannot wait to share some wonderful read alouds with you too. One of my favorites is The Tale of Despereaux and a new favorite is The Wild Robot. I hope you were able to find a cozy spot to do some reading this summer.
This year we will explore lots of new topics in science and social studies and learn some really interesting facts. We will be learning so many things from the names of all 50 states and the regions you can find them in, to weather, force and motion, animals and Ellis Island immigration.
We will learn some new math units and deepen our understanding of some units you are already familiar with. This year our biggest unit is multiplication and division. I have lots of fun games we can play to help us memorize those facts.
It will be a great year. If your families have any questions or concerns feel free to e-mail me at cdutil@pelhamsd.org.
