2025 District Speech Contest

Welcome to the official website for the Pekin District IE Speech Contest! We are so excited to host you on March 1st!

The contest will be hosted at PEKIN SCHOOLS: 1062 Birch Ave., Packwood, IA 52580

PLEASE NOTE: We are not located in the town of Packwood! To avoid rock roads, it is best to use Hwy 78 and turn south on 230th Ave which becomes Birch Ave just before reaching the school. Find a map HERE

There is plenty of parking. Coaches, contestants and spectators MUST use the entrance under the canopy enter the building.

There will be a suggested donation of $5 upon entry of contest as recommended by the IHSSA.

All students and spectators should follow the Iowa High School Speech Association Spectator's Guidelines. Failing to follow the clothing guidelines could result in a disqualification for the participants.

Change Form

Please use this form if you have a substitution, a drop, a title change, or need to switch two students in the same Center!

Local contest managers do not have the authority to make changes without going through the State Office.

WE ARE A CASH-ONLY FACILITY!

Please be advised that Pekin does not have an ATM machine, and we only accept cash for concession purchases and admission fees. The closest ATM is several miles away from our oasis in the corn. It is CRITICAL that everyone on your teams and your spectators understand this. We apologize for any inconvenience.

WEATHER RELATED ANNOUNCEMENTS

Weather in Iowa is challenging. If we would need to delay or postpone for weather-related reasons, we will send out an e-mail to all coaches, post an announcement to the website, and post it on the IHSSA website.

If inclement weather were to take place, the makeup date for this contest would be Monday, March 3rd, 2025 @ 4:00 pm.
