Prince Edward County Public Schools is offering full-time and part-time virtual option/s for students to receive their education during the 2022-2023 school year through Virtual Virginia. Families and students are encouraged to browse through the various resources on this website prior to enrolling. Criteria for Entry and Late Enrollments
The criteria specified below is intended to provide a specific standard for entry into Virtual Virginia (VVA). In addition, to remain in VVA courses, the student must maintain a proficient status. By implementing a specific criteria, we're able to determine which students are best suited for a virtual learning environment as compared to those who may need in-person instructional supports. To be eligible for admission, the student must have exhibited adequate attendance by having less than 10% absences (excused or unexcused) the previous school year.
If admitted into Virtual Virginia, student must maintain an absenteeism rate that doesn't exceed 10%
Notice: administrative personnel, based upon a preponderance of evidence (high absenteeism rate, low grades, low participation, etc.), has the right to deny entry into the Virtual Virginia program. In addition, administration may require the student to return to in-person instruction based on the same measure/benchmarks.
To be eligible for admission, the student must have exhibited good standing his/her previous year by maintaining a passing average in all his/her core content classes. The passing average is determined by quarterly or semester reports.
If admitted into Virtual Virginia, the student must exhibit good standing by maintaining a passing average in all his/her classes. Any student that demonstrates difficulty by failing one or more of his/her classes, may be required to return to in-person instruction.

In addition, administration may require the student to return to in-person instruction based on the same measure/benchmarks.
To be eligible for admission, student must have demonstrated a history of assignment completion in his/her classes. If the student has demonstrated a pattern of not turning assignments in on time, he/she may be ineligible to enroll in Virtual Virginia.
If admitted into Virtual Virginia, the student is required to demonstrate proficiency by routinely turning assignments in on time, logging daily attendance by signing onto the learning management system (VVA Canvas), attending all synchronous sessions, and responding to emails from teachers, advisors, and counselors.

Notice, students attempting to enroll after the deadline will not be registered for classes unless one of the following criteria is met:
military transfers
transfers related to documented medical conditions
transfers to the local school
A transfer enrollment to a Virtual Virginia course may be made only if the student was already enrolled in the equivalent course at his or her previous school.
