Counselling

How to access a counsellor, mindfulness specialist, or doctor

Please find information on how to access the variety of the health centre services on our FAQ page.

Counselling

Our trained Clinical Counsellors help students find ways to understand their challenges, identify goals and work toward them together in a safe, supportive, non-judgmental environment. Anything that is shared is confidential—kept between the student and the care team—with some limitations for safety reasons. The process is interactive and the duration of the support is determined between the counsellor, the health centre and the student themselves.

Body Acceptance Movement (BAM)

The Body Acceptance Movement, aka BAM is a group program where students are guided through a twelve week study and conversation about Body Acceptance, Intuitive Eating, Health at Every size. The room is a safe space to explore body image, weight bias and developing a healthy relationship with food + body. Our BAM practitioner Carmen Davies is a registered counsellor who's passion includes embodiment and a movement-therapy approach. You may expect to practice grounding and embodiment activities.

The program is presently only offered to female identifying students, or anyone who has identified as female at any point in their life (does not have to be present).

Stay Healthy at School Program

The Stay Health at School program is a way to connect with a counselor 24 hours and day 7 days a week. You can call, or email to connect anytime day or night, services are available in over 180 languages and your conversations are totally confidential so there will be no record of what you talk about on your school file. Best of all, you can just reach out anytime, without having to come to the health center first! The phone number to call is 1-833-646-1524 or you can fill in the web form at https://aspiria.ca/request-counselling/ and someone will connect with you that way.
