English 12

Course Description: The purpose of English 12 is to prepare students for college-level reading and writing. Continued emphasis will be placed on the writing process: pre-writing, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing as students first compose short stories and then a Senior Thesis Paper (to be written according to MLA guidelines). Additionally, students will analyze and synthesize a variety of literature that is aligned with the New York State Common Core Modules (fiction, non-fiction, short stories, and plays). A key component of this course is the Senior Thesis Paper carrying a significant weight, which could impact a student's standing within the course.
