POCO's Mission Statement: People of Color Outdoors helps Black, Indigenous and all People of Color (BIPOC) to heal and reconnect with nature by providing frequent outings into natural spaces, environmental caretaking opportunities, environmental education, outdoors skills, and welcoming, caring time in community.
Want to help POCO fulfill our mission? Here are some ways that you can help to support POCO:
Financial contributions. POCO is a volunteer run nonprofit, but our goal is to have paid staff so that we can increase our capacity to serve the community.
POCO offers overnight camping experiences each year. Many members are new to camping, but can't always purchase gear for the entire family. Donations of gear such as sleeping bags for children and adults, lanterns, headlamps, and flashlights are appreciated. We do ask that sleeping bags be new, but any other gear is appreciated and accepted whether it's new or used.
POCO offers several bird watching walks each year and really appreciate donations of new or used binoculars and bird guides.
Access to land for hiking, wildlife viewing, community gatherings.
