Prof. Jonathan Walker
Jonathan Walker is Principal Investigator for Shakespeare’s First Folio: 1623–2023 and Professor of English at Portland State University. He teaches and publishes on Shakespeare, Renaissance drama, gender and sexuality, and the history of the material book. His scholarly work has appeared in Renaissance Drama, Comparative Literature, Theatre Survey, and elsewhere. Jonathan’s book, Site Unscene: The Offstage in English Renaissance Drama, was published in 2017 by Northwestern University Press.
Prof. Daniel Pollack-Pelzner
Daniel Pollack-Pelzner is Performance Scholar for Shakespeare’s First Folio: 1623–2023 and Visiting Scholar in English and Theater at Portland State University. A frequent contributor to The Atlantic and The New Yorker, he is the Scholar-in-Residence at the Portland Shakespeare Project, and he helped to edit the Norton edition of Shakespeare’s complete works. Daniel and his wife met in a fifth-grade production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
Prof. Karin Magaldi
Karin Magaldi is Director of Aditi Brennan Kapil’s translation of Shakespeare’s Measure For Measure for Shakespeare’s First Folio: 1623–2023, and also Professor of Theater, Head of the Theater Program, and Associate Director of the School of Music + Theater at Portland State University. She has directed Shakespeare as well as contemporary productions at PSU, and has served as dramaturg and director at Portland Center Stage, Artists Repertory Theatre, Portland Playhouse, Third Rail Repertory, Milagro Theater, and CoHo Productions. Karin is also a playwright.
Prof. Alexis Butzner
Alexis Butzner is Exhibition Curator for Shakespeare’s First Folio: 1623-2023 and Professor of English and Writing at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, Oregon, where she teaches Shakespeare, British literature, and dramatic literature. A scholar of Renaissance and Medieval literature, Alexis’s scholarly work has appeared in Early Theatre, Studies in Philology, and Early Modern Women.
