Ethnicity & Race Scholarships

TheDream.US scholarships 

For highly motivated undocumented students who want to get a college education but are unable to afford the cost. They have no access to federal aid, limited access to state aid, and they sometimes face paying out-of-state tuition. We offer two scholarships.

The NATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP is for students eligible for in-state tuition at one of our 80+ Partner Colleges.*

Applications are open to immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2018. and qualify for in-state tuition at one of our Partner Colleges to receive this scholarship. We also offer an online college option. The Scholarship is for up to $16,500 for an associate’s degree and $33,000 for a bachelor’s degree.

The OPPORTUNITY SCHOLARSHIP is for students who live in targeted, locked-out states where they cannot get in-state tuition.

Applications are open to immigrant students with or without DACA or TPS who came to the U.S. before the age of 16 and before Nov. 1, 2018 and be admitted to one of our Opportunity Partner Colleges to receive this scholarship. The Scholarship is for up to $80,000 to cover tuition, fees, and on-campus housing and meals for a bachelor’s degree.

AT Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Purpose: To provide scholarships for Native American and Alaskan Native students majoring in science, engineering, medicine, natural resources, math, and technology.

Eligibility: Full time undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited university. Applicants must be a member of a Native American tribe or an Alaskan Native and members of AISES.

Minimum GPA: 3.0

American Indian Services Scholarship

Purpose: To support Native American students in pursuing post-secondary education.

Eligibility: Applicants must be one-quarter enrolled members of a Federally Recognized Native American Tribe. Students must be undergraduates and have earned less than 150 credits.

American Indian Science & Engineering Society Scholarships

Purpose: To support Native American, Alaskan Native, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander students in pursuing post-secondary education.

Eligibility: This site has a wide variety of scholarships students from these communities may be eligible for depending on their academic interests (not just STEM scholarships), community involvement, etc.

Asian and Pacific Islander American Scholarships

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to Asian and Pacific Island Americans.

Eligibility: Applicants must be of Asian or Pacific Islander ethnicity as defined by the US Census, and they must be legal citizens, nationals, or permanent residents of the US, Marshall Islands, Micronesia or Palau. Applicants must be enrolling full-time as a first-year degree seeking student in an accredited college or university in the US. 

Minimum GPA: 2.7

Black United Fund of Oregon Scholarships

Purpose: To support Black, African-American, and African students.

Eligibility:  Student must identify as Black, African-American, or of African descent. Student must be attending high school in the Portland metro area. Minimum 2.5 GPA for most scholarships required.

Colgate-Palmolive Haz la U Educational Grant

Purpose: To support Latino students who excel in the classroom and in their community by providing them with funds to further their education.

Eligibility: Applicants must have Latino heritage, have a minimum 3.0 GPA and be graduating high school seniors. Students must be role models in their communities and must also be permanent residents, DACA, US citizens or eligible non-citizens.

Amount: $2,000-$15,000

Oregon Latino Scholarship Fund

Purpose: To work with all members of the community to support the economic advancement of Latinos in Oregon and SW Washington. 

Eligibility: Applicant must be currently attending a high school in Oregon or Clark County, Washington or have attended a high school in Oregon OR Clark County, Washington and currently enrolled in an accredited college. Applicant must have at least a 3.0 GPA as evidenced by a high school or college transcript.

Amount: $1,000 - $2,500 (If you are awarded PSU will match this scholarship!)

Purpose: To encourage and provide Latinx student males the opportunity to further their academic and technical potential as they prepare to become future leaders. 

Eligibility: Applicant must be a Latinx male, Oregon resident, and demonstrate financial need.

Disability Scholarships

American Council of the Blind Scholarship

Eligibility: Students must be legally blind in both eyes and admitted full-time to a post-secondary academic or vocational program. 

Purpose: To reward outstanding blind students.

Minimum GPA: 3.3

Amount: $1,000-$2,500

Andre Sobel Award

Eligibility: Applicants must be between the ages of 12 and 21 as of June 30 the year of the application. They must be survivors of cancer or some other critical or life-threatening illness. Friends, family members and caregivers of those who meet these qualifications may also participate. All applicants must be US residents.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance for young survivors of catastrophic illness.

Eligibility: Applicants must be US citizens who are academically successful in public or private secondary schools and with an identified learning disability.

Purpose: To provide financial assistance to high school seniors with learning disabilities who plan to pursue undergraduate degrees.

Minimum GPA: 3.0

Gender & Sexual Orientation Scholarships

The Pride Foundation

Purpose: To support LGBTQ+ students who show leadership potential within the community or their field of study and show financial need.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a resident of Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon, or Washington but may study elsewhere. Applicants must be pursuing post-secondary education.

Bob Fennell Point Scholarship

Purpose: To support LGBTQ students pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree.

Eligibility: Applicants must be a high school senior, undergraduate or graduate student who openly identifies as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender or queer. Students must provide evidence of leadership and community involvement in the LGBTQ community.

Amount: $3,000
