Apply for PSU Scholarships

The PSU Scholarship Application for 2024-2025 will be delayed due to the new FAFSA release dates. We expect to open the application in late December. To apply for all Portland State scholarships visit the PSU's Scholarship Universe portal. Use Scholarship Universe to submit an application for the millions of dollars in scholarships PSU will award for the 2024-2025 academic year.

The deadline to apply for scholarships through the PSU Scholarship Application is April 1.

1. Apply for Financial Aid

PSU awards federal and state aid to students who submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Submission of the FAFSA is not required, but recommended. The financial information on the FAFSA is used to determine need. Even if you do not qualify for grants, the FAFSA can be an essential part of winning scholarships. Students who are not eligible to submit the FAFSA, can submit the Oregon Student Aid Application (ORSAA).

DIVERSITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM (DSP)

The Diversity Scholarship program promotes diversity and student participation in campus life through volunteerism and academic excellence. Scholarship recipients will share their unique strengths and diverse perspectives through their involvement in on-campus activities, in the classroom, and through their participation in community service. The Diversity Scholarship is a renewable tuition-remission credit in the amount of 12 undergraduate credits at the resident tuition rate excluding fees (actual amount varies).

This scholarship attracts outstanding students from diverse backgrounds, including racial and ethnic backgrounds that are traditionally underrepresented in higher education and pursuing their first bachelor's degree. The Diversity Scholarship gives preferences to those who are/have:

  • Oregon residents

  • Financial need (federally defined)

  • First-generation* college students

* First-generation is defined as neither parent having a 4-year college degree from a U.S. university.

In an effort to maximize a student's ability to secure funding, we highly encourage all students to apply for this scholarship through the online application. The online process will allow students to be considered for not only the Diversity Scholarship but other scholarships that have similar criteria without having to complete multiple applications.
